Year Ten Pastoral Care
The Year 10 Pastoral Team is led by Mr Lastiotis, the Year Coordinator. He is line managed by Assistant Headteacher, Ms Healy and supported by Robert Cole, Learning Mentor.
There are ten form tutors who care for Y10 pupils. These include: Mr Wallis, Ms Makan, Ms Quaium, Mr Johnson, Mr Sarumi, Ms Pattman, Ms Tailor, Mr Jamin and Ms Millward.
Whilst in Y10, the year teams aim is to provide pupils with:
- Clear guidance and information relating to their career pathways
- an ehanced range of vocational and foundation learning opportunities
- appropriate academic interventions for pupils who are not meeting targets
- maintained attendance targets
- improve punctuality
- oppotunities to develop leadership qualities
Year 10 pupils have been reappointed to new registration gorups in order to ensure that pupils can receive targeted support in subject areas to help them maximise their chances of achievening the best examiation results possible.
Peer mentoring programmes are being promoted to support pupils in key academic areas and support has been offered to help pupils develop skills such as numeracy.
During the year pupils will have opportunities to enhance their leadership skills during residential weekends at Fairplay House. This will build on the work done by staff and pupils last year to develop interpersonal skills and independence. Those pupils who succeed in this will have greater opportunities to take on significant leadership development in Y11.
Y10 parents' evening is currently scheduled to take place on Thursday 17 May 2012.
