“Cumberland School provides a GOOD Education with OUTSTANDING features.” Ofsted March 2013

As the new Headteacher of Cumberland School, I am extremely proud to be joining a school community which is both ambitious for, and supportive of, the pupils it serves. I am very much looking forward to meeting and working with the students and parents that make Cumberland School such an exciting and vibrant learning community, over the coming weeks and months.

As Headteacher of Cumberland, an 11-16 mixed, community comprehensive school with approximately 1500 pupils on roll, I am determined to ensure that the school’s record in providing a caring and supportive environment for all pupils continues to improve. Our commitment to inclusivity is unequivocal and the school includes an onsite provision for pupils with ASD. The work with these pupils has been recognised as excellent.

Our vision statement, ‘Aspire to Achieve’, embodies our belief that all of our pupils can, with the right challenge and support, achieve their aspirations and ambitions.

Our aim is to be a successful fully inclusive school where all of our pupils maximise their talents and achievements in a safe, secure and stimulating environment, one where everyone feels valued and respected.

Cumberland’s staff work in close partnership with families and the wider community to achieve the best for our young people. The school has always enjoyed a good reputation within the community but we are not complacent. All staff at Cumberland are committed to putting our pupils first, and we will continue to share our successes with you and reflect on where we can improve to ensure that our young people have the best opportunities and outcomes. Cumberland recognises the importance of ensuring that our pupils achieve both examination success and that they acquire the necessary skills and understanding to be successful, happy and responsible adults.

I hope that you find our web site useful and informative. Please do get in touch with the school if you have any questions which our website fails to answer.
